Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz has offered his condolences to President Samia Suluhu Hassan following the death of her husband, Hafidh Ameir Hassan.

Diamond, whose real name is Nasibu Abdul Juma Issack, visited President Samia at her home in Kizimkazi, South Unguja Region, Zanzibar, on September 9, 2026, where he joined those comforting the President and her family during the period of mourning.

Hafidh Ameir Hassan died on Monday, September 7, 2026, at Emilio Mzena Memorial Hospital in Zanzibar, where he had been receiving treatment for a heart condition. His death was officially announced by Tanzania's Vice President, Deogratius Ndejembi.

He was laid to rest in Kizimkazi, South Unguja, on the same day. The funeral was attended by senior government officials, religious leaders, political figures, family members, friends and other mourners.

Diamond's visit was part of the condolences being extended to President Samia and her family following the loss. The Tanzanian music star was seen comforting the Head of State during his visit to the family's Kizimkazi residence.

The loss has prompted messages of sympathy from across Tanzania and the wider East African region. Kenyan President William Ruto and Burundian President Évariste Ndayishimiye were among regional leaders who publicly expressed their condolences following Hafidh Ameir Hassan's death.

Hafidh Ameir Hassan maintained a relatively private public profile despite being the husband of Tanzania's Head of State. He became the country's first First Gentleman when Samia Suluhu Hassan assumed the presidency in 2021.
