About This Song
Mbaya is the fiftieth and final track from Tanzanian singer and songwriter Ibraah's 2026 album 1B (The Other Side of the Face). The Swahili word Mbaya translates to "Bad" in English, although its meaning can vary depending on the context. In everyday Tanzanian expressions, the word can describe something negative, difficult or intense. The song's specific lyrical message and intended meaning have not been independently verified. Following Kata, Mbaya brings Ibraah's extensive 50-track album to a close. As the concluding recording, it completes a major collection of contemporary Tanzanian Bongo Flava and Afro-Pop music, giving listeners the final entry in the 1B (The Other Side of the Face) project.
