Kapitani
Nairobi, Kenya
Kapitani is a Kenyan rapper and recording artist emerging from the country's contemporary hip-hop scene. Known for his street-oriented lyrics and use of Sheng, Kiswahili and English, he has developed a distinctive style built around direct storytelling, confident delivery and references to everyday urban life in Kenya. Kapitani began building his catalogue with releases including “Control” and “New Gears Freestyle” before gaining wider attention through songs such as “Mamdihe,” “Niwashe,” “Single” and “Chubwi.” His profile grew significantly in 2026 with “Kitemeo,” a breakout track that gained traction across Kenyan digital platforms and helped introduce his music to a wider audience. Alongside his solo releases, Kapitani has collaborated with artists from Kenya's growing rap scene, appearing on records with Virusi Mbaya, Zzero Sufuri, Toxic Lyrikali, Mauru Gwash and other contemporary acts. With a growing catalogue and an increasingly visible presence in Kenyan hip-hop, Kapitani represents a new generation of artists bringing local street language, experiences and culture into modern East African rap.
