Maua Sama is a Tanzanian singer and songwriter from Moshi, Kilimanjaro, known for her warm vocals and blend of Afro-Pop, Bongo Flava and R&B. She began pursuing music professionally after her songs reached Tanzanian artist Mwana FA, who helped introduce her to music industry contacts and later collaborated with her on “So Crazy.” She continued building her career with early releases including “Mahaba Niue” before achieving a major breakthrough with “Iokote” in 2018. The song expanded her audience across Tanzania and beyond and became one of the defining releases of her career. Maua Sama has since developed a catalogue that includes songs such as “Niteke,” “Nioneshe,” “Katu Katu,” “Wivu” and “Iokote,” alongside collaborations with artists from Tanzania and the wider East African music scene.
