D Voice is a Tanzanian singer and songwriter known for his energetic Singeli sound and ability to blend the genre with Bongo Flava and contemporary African pop. Born Abdul Khamis Ali Mtambo, he emerged from Tanzania’s Singeli scene before gaining wider national attention through his music and distinctive melodic vocal style. His career reached a major milestone in November 2023 when he joined WCB Wasafi, the Tanzanian record label founded by Diamond Platnumz. The same period saw the release of his debut album, Swahili Kid, a 10-track project featuring collaborations with Diamond Platnumz, Zuchu, Mbosso and Lava Lava. The album introduced songs including “Umenifunza,” “BamBam,” “Mpeni Taarifa,” “Nimezama,” “Kama Wengine” and “Mungu Baba,” showcasing D Voice’s ability to combine the fast-paced energy of Singeli with melodic Bongo Flava. He has since expanded his catalogue with releases including “Zoba,” “Tunapendana,” “Nani,” “Baby Mpya,” “Mbwa,” “Baridi,” “Kumbe” and “Viatu Vyangu,” while continuing to collaborate with artists across Tanzania’s contemporary music scene. With his Singeli roots, melodic delivery and growing catalogue, D Voice represents a new generation of Tanzanian artists bringing the country’s street-born sounds to a wider East African audience.
